Hygrophorus dichrous Kühn & Romagn. Zweifarbiger Schneckling Hygrophore bicolore. Cap 5–7cm across, convex with slight umbo, olive-brown with darker centre, slimy. Stem 50–80 x 10–18mm, white covered with thick, brownish gluten below the ring-like zone. Flesh thick, white. Smell odd. Gills adnate-decurrent, white. Spore print white. Spores broadly ovoid, 9–13 x 5–7.5um. Habitat in deciduous woods. Season autumn. Uncommon. Edible. (Never eat any mushroom until you are certain it is edible as many are poisonous and some are deadly poisonous.) Distribution, America and Europe.
